Taking into account everything that has been said about Web 2.0, the web-enabled, social media enhancements are now changing the way college sports and its
administration can recruit student athletes. With the recent changes to the NCAA Division I manual, college coaches are now
permitted to communicate with student athletes via electronic correspondence.
This line of communication has had a dramatic impact on the way college
coaches can recruit high school student athletes and basic models of this
web-enhanced process are currently being implemented. Bylaw changes have granted college
coaches the opportunity to send future student athletes text messages, instant
messages, email, social media exchanges once they enter their junior year of
high school after a specified date. The new bylaw change will absolutely alter the way that college recruitment is done. We hope to streamline these efforts on behalf of the college coaches and athletes with some of the sports intelligence solutions we will be introducing.
